Colin Haberton from Relativ spoke with our Partnerships Manager Joss Rogers about how the partnership with Socialsuite supports his impact advisory practice and how clients across Africa have adapted to COVID-19. To learn more about Relativ visit their website here.
1. Can you tell me who Relativ are and what do you specialise in?
Relativ is an impact advisory firm based in Cape Town, South Africa. We serve an international client base delivering solutions that assist in identifying, understanding, measuring and amplifying their social and environmental impact across stakeholder networks.
2. How have your clients adapted to COVID-19?
In general, the response has been a rapid reorientation of their operations to prepare for the economic, social and health impact on the clients and communities they serve. This has been coupled with engaging with their partners and donors to inform them of their planned response and to assess how their funding requirements will be affected to find collective, flexible solutions to maintain and enhance service delivery during, and after the crisis.
3. How do you work/partner with Socialsuite?
Socialsuite offers us and our clients a flexible platform to gather primary data from clients and communities to build the necessary evidence base to support decision-making at strategic, operational and tactical levels. Socialsuite’s data visualisation capabilities bring the data alive to improve decision-maker engagement from investors to boards through to management and clients.
4. You have driven over 100 registrations to the free COVID-19 assessment tool, how did you do this and do you have any advice you could share to other partners?
Well, undoubtedly, Socialsuite offering the COVID survey for free is a key incentive. The other factors are tried and tested communication channels to reach the markets we serve and finally, our client and partner network. All these factors, and repeated communications and updates through these channels, work together.
5. What do you see as the opportunity in Social impact in Africa and how do you see Socialsuite supporting Relativ in this?
There is a prevailing need for reliable technology platforms that offer organisations the ability to gather real-time data through various devices our clients and their constituents make use of, especially in Africa. The one issue is affordability. Although there are larger organisations working in Africa with adequate budgets, the one area where Socialsuite could assist is considering a pricing/service structure for underserved markets, where perhaps additional value could be gained through collaborative research projects from the region that could be of use to international donors and investors.
